Double-fused for safety, mantles feature a vented case that creates an airflow, allowing the housing to be safe to the touch when in use. Outer housing is constructed of resilient, chemical-resistant polypropylene to minimize damage from spills. The coiled heating element is suspended within a thermal insulating cartridge, providing maximum heat transfer and support. Heating element is flexible, ensuring a minimum risk of breakage. Insulating cartridge can be quickly and easily replaced. All 5L mantles feature an upper and lower heating element; the upper element can be switched on or off.

A “Heater On” light indicates heat is being supplied to the heater. An amber-colored “Power On” light indicates when the power is turned on. Support rod holder accepts 1.27cm (¹/₂") diameter support rods.

Mantles feature a built-in temperature controller and grounding screen. Temperature controller regulates temperatures from ambient to 450°C (840°F). Stainless steel grounding screen provides added protection against shock in the event of spillage or flask breakage.
