These fixing trays are available in two convenient sizes for vertical gel plates. Unlike conventional fixing trays, these trays have a stopcock that allows users to drain fluid and place filter paper on top of the gel while it rests in the tray. They also allow fixing solution to be recovered for reuse. Trays may also be used for electrophoresis gel destaining.

Unbreakable low-density polyethylene trays are 6.4mm thick with top stiffening flange and five bars in the bottom. The 9.5mm thick, 9.5mm wide bars hold plates off the bottom of the tray, facilitating manual extraction of plates. The bars run along the length of the tray.
