Biotinylated a-bungarotoxin is useful in the affinity column isolation of the nicotinic AChR using an avidin or streptavidin agarose. Nicotinic AChRs labeled with biotin-XX-a-bungarotoxin can be localized using enzyme or fluorophore-labeled conjugates of avidin or streptavidin.
