Hunter Thin Layer Peptide Electrophoresis (HTLP) is used for high resolution two-dimensional tryptic peptide mapping and PAA (phosphoamino acid analysis). Peptide mapping provides fingerprints of proteolysed proteins and assists with differentiating proteins suspected to be encoded by the same or similar genes, preparing individual peptides for determining amino acid composition and sequence, and determining location of amino acid residues post-transitionally modified by fatty acid acylation, glycosylation, methylation, acetylation, or phosphorylation.
The clamping system and inflatable nylon air bag remove excess liquid from the surface of the plate and prevent buffer from siphoning. This creates and maintains an ultra thin interface between buffer and sample cellulose matrix during high-voltage electrophoresis. Allows uniform cooling due to close and even contact with the cooling surface, providing reliable, reproducible results from a few dpm of metabolically labeled product. Digests are resolved in two dimensions, often yielding subtle and important clues about peptide composition. Because of the low reactivity of cellulose, peptide material may be recovered for secondary analysis such as determining amino acid composition and sequence or determining the presence and position of phosphoamino acid residues.
