These units feature machine-tapered baffles at each end of the bed, permitting quick and easy pouring of agarose submarine gels. Both baffles slide into grooves next to gel bed to form barriers for pouring agarose. After the gel has solidified, simply slide the baffles out and store in the slots at the ends of the unit. A platinum electrode is sealed into the side wall of the unit, shielding it from the buffer as it descends to bottom of unit. The electrode is only exposed along the base of the reservoir on both sides, which helps to protect the platinum and provides a uniform field across the width of the gel.

The uniquely designed safety cover must be in the closed position before the power leads can be attached and voltage applied. Color-coded horizontal systems are recommended to differentiate exclusive use by a specific lab or for a specific purpose.
