These chambers are designed to perform near UV and visual light testing with fluorescent lamps per ICH Q1B Guidelines, Option 2. These benchtop units control light and temperature conditions with a user-friendly touch screen interface. Uniform light distribution and high intensity levels permit quick response for forced degredation testing and confirmatory studies. Humidity controlled units isolate the effects of hydration during testing via ultrasonic injection and mechanical refrigeration methods.

Independent lamp control is provided to eliminate overexposure for confirmatory tests and to provide flexibility for forced degredation tests. Automatic or manual settings allow for flexibility in test time durations, as well as simplifying chamber validation. Dimmable lamps (230V models only) allow testing at specific light intensity levels, and programmable alarms will notify users when aging lamps should be replaced. Two light detectors (UVA and VIS) with integral radiometer are standard, and provide precise light intesity measurements. Light detectors are both cosine corrected and calibrated to NIST traceable standards. Precise temperature control is provided through the use of a PID controller.

Stainless steel interior construction provides a smooth, nonporous surface for easy maintenance. Specular aluminum reflective surfaces provide uniform UVA and VIS light reflection and maintain proper spectral power distribution. Additionally, strategic overhead lamp placement enhances light uniformity and provides a larger illumination area. Two sliding shelves permit quick and easy sample loading. Chamber door is equipped with a safety switch that turns off interior lights when opened. The lockable door also helps to prevent accidental test distrubance. One 4.4Wx5.1Hcm (1³/₄x2") access port per shelf is standard.

The extended temperature range for models 6540 and 6545 extends chamber temperature down to 5°C, with lights on. The condensate recirculating system is for use where a floor drain or in-house supply of distilled or deionized water is unavailable. The filter replacement kit for the recirculating system includes DI cartridge, carbon filter, and silver stick. The tubing and fitting kit connects the recirculating system to two chambers.
