The R/S 2003 workstation works in conjunction with any standard, upright microscope to provide a complete system for the automation and standardization of urine sediment analysis. Workstation enables technologists to automatically and consistently aspirate evenly mixed urine sediment samples. Simply press the sample button to aspirate (through the aspirator probe), re-suspend, and present a sample within the flow cell (viewing chamber) for analysis.
The flow cell is constructed of seamless, optical-quality glass and is housed within the system’s unique optical slide assembly (OSA). The OSA is connected to the workstation’s console and aspirator probe by medical-grade tubing and clips onto the stage of a microscope. The OSA accommodates all forms of microscopy including bright field, polarized light, and phase contrast. Once positioned, the OSA remains in place throughout the analysis process.
This system provides lower operating costs by eliminating the need for consumables such as pipets, slides, and coverslips. It minimizes waste disposal and results in fewer repeat tests, reducing the cost of direct labor. The workstation’s flexible configuration works with all automated urine chemistry and cell analyzers to automate normal and/or “flagged” urine sediment specimens for analysis. The system is fully upgradeable, as well as easy to use. Most technologists reach operating proficiency within 100 samples, resulting in improved quality control. The automated, closed-environment system also enhances worksite safety by reducing operator exposure to biohazardous materials.
Workstation adopts, conforms to, and complies verbatim with the urine sediment analysis procedure guidelines set forth in NCCLS document GP16-A, Urinalysis and Collection, Transportation, and Preservation of Urine Specimens.
Ordering Information: The R/S 2003 workstation comes complete with one optical slide assembly without grid, aspirator kit (includes aspirator probe, probe handle, and tubing to connect aspirator probe to flow cell), tubing kit (includes all user serviceable tubing, pre-cut and pre-fitted), purge bottle, bleach bottle, 48-position tube rack, power supply unit, and one-year manufacturer’s warranty.
