Model 5424 is a versatile 24-place microcentrifuge that sets new standards for silence, speed, and simplicity. To improve the lab environment, the centrifuge is whisper quiet, even when running without the rotor lid. The lid has a soft-touch one-finger closure for ergonomic operation, and opens automatically at the end of the run for easy sample removal and to prevent sample warming. Functions include SOFT-brake for protection of delicate samples, speed programmable ShortSpin for protection of fragile tubes or delicate samples, and end-of-run alarm with six settings for volume. Full-digit display shows run parameters. Speed and RCF are adjustable in increments of 100. Soft-touch rotary knob centrifuges provide quick parameter changes, whereas keypad centrifuges are easy to clean.

Fixed-angle rotor is ideal for standard applications and centrifugation of biohazardous or radioactive samples. Miniprep spin column rotor features extra-high rim to support open tube lids. PCR† tube rotor is ideal for "knockdown" spins for liquids after reaction setup. PTFE-coated rotor is for applications requiring high chemical resistance and easy cleaning, such as those involving phenol or chloroform. Certified aerosol-tight rotors have red screw-tops for easy identification. All rotors are supplied with lids.
