This cabinet provides sample protection for PCR applications that do not generate biohazardous materials. True vertical laminar airflow with a large filter covering the entire work zone within the cabinet offers better protection against cross-contamination than conventional "dead-air" boxes. Vertical laminar flow provides lower energy consumption levels with motorized impeller technology and less airflow turbulence, especially when large objects are used in the work zone. The negative pressure filter mounting system is superior to conventional horizontal flow cabinets. Stainless steel construction makes the work zone easy to clean. The interior surface will not chip, rust, or generate particles.

Room air is taken in from the top of the cabinet through a disposable pre-filter with 85% arrestance. The pre-filter traps larger particles and increases the life of the main filter. Air is forced evenly across the ULPA (Ultra Low Penetration Air) filter, resulting in a stream of clean laminar air within the work zone of the cabinet to dilute and flush all airborne contaminants from the interior. The purified air travels across the workzone of the cabinet in a vertical, unidirectional stream and leaves the main work chamber across the entire open front of the cabinet and through Auto-Purge* slots at the back wall of the workzone. Slots are designed to eliminate air turbulence and the possibility of dead-air corners in the workzone.

Minipleat ULPA filter operates at a typical efficiency of 99.999% for 0.1-0.3µm particles, surpassing conventional HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filters. The ULPA filter provides ISO Class 3 (FED-STD-209E Class 1/M1.5) clean air to the work surface. An integral filter metal guard prevents accidental damage to the filter media. A seamless filter gasket is permanently molded on the filter frame and will not deteriorate over time. Typical main ULPA filter lifespan is more than five to seven years depending on the usage of the cabinet.

Cabinet 97004-502 is equipped with rocker switches for the blower, light, and UV light. Cabinets 97004-504 and 97004-506 are equipped with a microprocessor control system and soft touch controls for the blower, light, and UV light. All cabinets feature a UV timer function. The microprocessor control system features additional program functions, including automatic activation of the UV light when the front shield is lowered, UV countdown on the LCD display, total UV running hours, and more.

External surfaces are coated with Isocide* antimicrobial coating to protect against surface contamination and inhibit bacterial growth. The Isocide coating eliminates 99.9% of surface bacteria within 24 hours of exposure.
