These protein assays use simple extraction protocols and can be used in the presence of common laboratory agents.
The CB* and CB-X* assays both use Coomassie dye to estimate protein concentration. When proteins bind to the dye, the color of the solution changes from brown to blue. The included reagent is ready to use. When mixed with the protein sample solution, an end-point is reached in five minutes. Both kits include bovine albumin standard. The CB assay kit (82022-366) is suitable for non-detergent solubilized proteins and protein estimation, and features flexible protocols for use with tube or Titer plate assays. The CB-X assay kit (82021-292) is suitable for detergent solubilized membrane protein estimations. It is compatible with dilute protein samples and reducing agents. The CB-X assay kit is also supplied with a lot-specific calibration table, making it easy to run standard curves. Assays can be run using as little as 0.5µg of protein and each test provides linear results within a range of 0.5-50µg of sample.
The NI* Non-Interfering Protein Assay* kit is designed to be used with common laboratory agents such as reducing agents (2ME and DTT), chelating agent -EDTA, detergents, amines (TRIS), sugars, chaotropic agents, and numerous other agents and extraction buffers. The protocol can be used with manual, semi-automated, or fully automated spectrophotometry for the most reliable measurements of protein concentration. Tests can be run using as little as 0.5µg of protein and each test provides linear results within a range of 0.5-50µg of sample.
The protein dotMETRIC* assays can measure protein concentration in as little as a single microliter of protein solution. The process involves diffusion of the protein solution through a specific membrane under defined conditions. Because the diffusion is so specific, the assay is unaffected by interfering agents. Assays can even be performed in Laemelli sample loading buffer. Various accessories are available to improve the accuracy and reproducibility of the assay.
The SPN* assays are fast and efficient and are unaffected by interfering agents, such as detergents and chaotropes. The protocol can be run with as little as 1µL of sample. Samples between 0.5µg and 10µg provide a linear response. Results are not affected by the presence of a protein loading buffer. In addition, protein standards are optional, allowing the assay time to be shortened if desired. The SPN tube kit (82021-238) uses a single tube format, while the SPN-htp plate assay kit (82021-239) uses a 96-well plate format. The SPN-htp plates are robotic compatible and can be used with centrifuge adaptors, as well as semiautomatic or fully automatic systems.
