Identify low abundancy proteins and biomarkers using these kits designed to use a wide range of fractionation techniques. The resulting simplified protein samples can be used in 2D electrophoresis without any further purification.

The global fractionation kit will extract and solubilize mammalian proteins into fractions that include soluble proteins, hydrophobic membrane proteins, low hydrophobic membrane proteins, cytoskeletal proteins, and signaling membrane proteins that are concentrated in caveolin rich membranes and lipid rafts.

The cytoplasmic and nuclear kit is designed for the simple fractionation of cells and tissues using gentle lysis and centrifugation along with a strong choatropic agent for extraction and solubilization.

The glycoprotein kit is based on lectin binding for specific glycoproteins with terminal alphaD-mannosyl or alphaD-glycosyl proteins. The spin column format has the capacity to bind and immobilize up to 5mg glycoprotein.

The membrane protein kit extracts hydrophobic membrane proteins from mammalian tissues and cells, plant tissues, insect tissues, yeast, and bacteria samples. Samples contain less than 10% contamination from hydrophilic proteins.

The mitochondria kit separates intact and active mitochondria from other cellular organelles. After separation, approximately 90% of the mitochondria remain intact and active.

The PhosphoRich* kit extracts and enriches phosphoproteins and phosphopeptides from complex biological samples. The protocol uses a spin column format to bind up 20mg phosphorylated ovalbumin. Columns can also be reused if regenerated and stored properly.

The signal protein kit is designed to remove proteins from specific membrane regions that are enriched caveolin, cholesterol, glycolipids, and glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) regions called rafts. The fractionation removes the rafts from other cellular organelles and components, and the included chaotropic buffer extracts the proteins from the rafts.

The soluble and insoluble protein fractionation kit is compatible with mammalian tissues and cells, plants, yeast, bacteria, and insect samples. The fractions created by this kit include soluble (or hydrophilic) and insoluble (or hydrophobic) fractions.

The SubCell kit allows for the fast and easy enrichment of nuclear, mitochondrial, membrane, and cytosolic fractions from cultured animal cells or animal tissues. The mitochondrial fraction, which contains a majority of intact inner and outer membranes, can be subsequently separated into heavy and light fractions by gradient centrifugation. An additional step is included to minimize contamination of the nuclear fraction from cytoplasmic elements.

If further fractionation is desired for cleaner 2D gel maps or other applications, the Fraction-FOCUS* kit can be used to divide samples into 6-12 additional fractions. The protocol uses serial fractionation to precipitate proteins out of the original sample with no detectable loss of material.
