These precast gels offer improved gel performance with faster and more stable gradients, fewer artifacts, and easier zymogram assays. They are dried, “empty” gels, ready for reswelling in a carrier ampholyte solution of choice. Mechanically stable, plastic-backed gels are carefully washed and dried after casting to remove catalysts and unpolymerized material, which allows gels to perform sensitive procedures. Before use, gels should be rehydrated using the GelPool accessory (available separately). Swelling returns the gel to its original thickness of 0.5mm (0.020"). Customize IEF separations by reswelling in a suitable mixture of carrier ampholytes and other additives such as detergents or denaturants. Store gels at -20°C (4°F).
