PhastGel polyacrylamide gels are on a GelBond* film backing and are designed in a small format for flexibility. The high-density homogenous medium is specially optimized for the separation of proteins and small proteins with molecular weights below 20kDa. IEF gels are homogenous polyacrylamide containing 2-6% Pharmalyte* as a carrier ampholyte. Pharmalyte generates stable, linear pH gradients with uniform conductivity across the entire pH range, allowing field strengths >500V/cm for high-resolution separations. The dry IEF gels have been cast, washed, and dried to ensure that they contain no residual monomers or other contaminants. These gels must be rehydrated with a carrier ampholyte solution. All gels are 43Wx50Lmm (111/16x2"). They are 0.45mm (0.018") thick. The buffer strips are supplied as ready-to-use agarose blocks, making buffer preparation unnecessary. They measure 10Wx41Lx6Hmm (3/8x15/8x1/4"). To ensure controlled and reproducible rehydration of dry gels, a PhastGel cassette (95017-194) and gel cover (95017-191) are recommended. Buffer strip holders (95017-299) are recommended for use with the buffer strips to prevent gels from drying out during electrophoresis.
