Microplates are manufactured from virgin polystyrene resin and are designed to meet industry standard dimension specifications to facilitate compatibility with microplate handling and robotics. All plates have square chimney wells with flat bottoms. Chimney well plates feature a chimney-like arrangement in which each well stands on its own to reduce the possibility of cross-contamination, and feature individual rims that rise above the surface of the plate to aid in sealing by cap mat, thermal sealer, or adhesive sealer. LUMITRAC* and FLUOTRAC* formats are offered to allow a wide variety of applications, including cell-based assays. White LUMITRAC plates are for luminescence assays and black FLUOTRAC plates are for fluorescence assays. Plates are available with solid or clear bottoms. Clear bottom plates are manufactured with µClear* micro-thin polystyrene film, and are suggested for assays designed for luminescence and fluorescence detection in which imaging from the bottom is required. Plates are supplied without lids.

Plates are RNase-, DNase-, and human DNA-free, and nonpyrogenic. All plates have a footprint conforming to the ANSI/SBS 1-2004 Standard.
