Solid phase synthesis facilitates chemical reactions and processes by immobilizing the material with a resin. Solid phase synthesis systems allow for adding samples, splitting off from the resin, filtration of by-products, and purification of the product. Vacuum filtration is used to wash and recover the material. A built-in process timer allows for unattended operation and automated temperature ramping can be programmed. A temperature sensor, positioned in the reaction vessel, provides precise temperature control and reproducible results. The systems provide a central connection and distributor for vacuum and inert atmosphere.

Synthesis 1 base units provide exceptional visual control of the reaction and easy access to all samples due to the revolving circular design of the reaction block. Units can be easily configured for many different applications. Up to 24 samples (8-42mL) can be synthesized simultaneously. Units feature solid construction, electronic speed control, an integrated collection tray for dripping condensate, and an RS-232 interface port.

Reaction blocks may be set to four different reaction temperatures in their four heating zones and are supplied with reaction vessels and a vacuum distributor. Reaction vessels are made of transparent, chemically-resistant PTFE and PFA materials, and feature a bottom valve, screw fittings, filter, and PTFE-coated septa. Waste cubes are supplied with a test tube rack, test tubes, waste cube vessel, an insert, and a PTFE tube. Waste cube inserts and test tube racks allow an existing waste cube to accommodate a different number of test tubes. The filters have a pore size of 25µm.

The waste cube vessel is for the collection of washing solvents from a waste cube and measures 120x187mm. The blanking screw cap is for closing reaction vessels that will not be put under vacuum or inert atmosphere conditions. The PTFE tube is used to connect vacuum distributor and waste cube to the reaction vessel. The PTFE-coated temperature sensor is 135mm long and can be used with all of the reaction blocks. The hinged guard hood provides added safety and ensures constant sample temperature.
