For multiple arsenic determinations. A sample containing arsenic is placed within the flask and converted to arsine gas. Hydrogen sulfide is removed from the sample as the gas is generated by lead acetate-impregnated glass wool above the ST 24/40 joint. The absorber tube, containing the reagent silver diethyldithiocarbamate, absorbs the arsine gas and forms a red complex. This product is transferred to a cuvette, and its visible spectrum is then recorded on a colorimeter or spectrometer (ASTM D2972).

Complete assembly includes flask, absorption tube, and one polyacetal clamp that fits ST 24/40 and ST 24/25 joints. Optional glass beads may be added to the absorber tube to enhance the mixing of the generated gas through the silver diethyldithiocarbamate.
