The generators work via the rotor/stator system, in which samples are drawn into the center of the generator tip, vigorously mixed, accelerated, pressed through the narrow gap between the rotor and stator, and forced out between the teeth of the stator. Reusable generators are autoclavable at 121°C (250°F) at 15psi for 15 minutes. Disposable generators are not autoclavable.
