A recombinant E. coli enzyme that converts single-stranded RNA to mononucleoside 3' monophosphates with inherently broad specificity. It features a broader specificity than RNase A for more complete digestion of RNA. The broader specificity for single-strand RNA also allows for easy detection of duplex RNA, single base mismatches, and RNA structure. It can also be used in cDNA cloning and RNase protection assays. The enzyme is easily inactivated by heating it to 70°C (158°F) for 10 minutes. This RNase has been purified to apparent homogeneity and is DNase-free. The enzyme comes with a lox reaction buffer.

Note: For in vitro research use only. Not suitable for drug or diagnostic use or for use with humans or animals.

Unit Definition: One unit of enzyme digests 100ng of RNA/second into acid-soluble nucleotides at 37°C (98.6°F) in a buffer of 10 mM Tris-HCl (pH 7.5), 100 mM NaCl, and 1 mM EDTA.
