RE digital refractometers are ideal for measuring refractive index, Brix, HFCS (RE50 model only), and concentration of aqueous solutions, such as glycerol, propylene glycol, and acetone. They determine refractive index using a method based on total reflection, which allows accurate measurement of even turbid or dark samples.

Refractometers have compact, built-in Peltier thermostats to control temperature - water baths are not required. Units require small sample volumes (0.2mL) and easily calibrate with water or certified standards. Nine user methods (plus one for adjustment) are available, although the RE50 can be expanded to more than 100 through use of optional memory cards.

GLP/GMP features include an adjustment function and a check function for regular instrument maintenance. The last ten pieces of check and adjustment data are stored and can be recalled and printed at any time. Also, important data such as laboratory, user, date, time, serial number of instrument, and measured data may be printed. Units connect to a computer for data handling or may be used with the dot matrix impact printer (11276-904).
