These V-bottom, polypropylene plates are designed for use with a wide variety of thermal cyclers that have a V-shaped aluminum block for ninety-six 0.2mL tubes. Plates have a standard 96-well, 8x12 format. V-bottom wells hold a 0.2mL sample. Uniform thin wall design allows consistency of heat transfer to each well for maximum product yield. Plate 73520-694 can be separated into 24- or 48-well sections. Clear flat-top amplification cap strips 73521-364 provide superior optical clarity for real-time PCR†.
Wells of the plates extend above the base to allow sealing with amplification cap strips or amplification tape 96 (37000-548), which limits evaporation and minimizes contamination. The amplification tape is an easy and economical way to seal the plates for thermal cycling. The tape is supplied as single, precut, adhesive sheets with a removable plastic backing. The heat and pressure from the thermal cycler lid molds the tape around the wells, providing an effective seal against evaporation and well-to-well contamination. The silicone spacer plate (62860-474) ensures even heat transfer when the amplification tape is used.
Plates can be used in automation. The amplification plates and tape are certified DNase- and RNase-free. All plates are autoclavable at 121°C and are nonsterile.
