Three treated surfaces are available: PolySorp*, MaxiSorp*, and MiniSorp. PolySorp polystyrene tubes have a surface that is appropriate for adsorption of less polar molecules, such as certain lipoproteins and lipids. PolySorp tubes may reduce high background readings associated with viral and cellular lysates. MaxiSorp polystyrene tubes have a surface that provides excellent affinity for immunoglobulins and proteins with a hydrophilic or mixed hydrophobic/hydrophilic character. Tubes with MaxiSorp surface are certified for consistent binding. MiniSorp tubes are made of molded polyethylene and have low non-specific protein binding characteristics compared to ordinary glass or plastic tubes. MiniSorp tubes are excellent for RIA and can reduce the need for added carrier proteins.
