The easiest assays for detecting the presence of peroxides in either aqueous or lipid-containing laboratory reagents. Peroxides in the sample oxidize Fe²⁺ to Fe³⁺. The Fe³⁺ ion will form a colored complex with xylenol orange that can be read at 560nm.

Ordering Information: The aqueous compatible formulation kit contains 1mL reagent A (25mM ammonium ferrous sulfate) and 100mL reagent B (125µM xylenol orange in water with sorbitol).
