This open-top cryostat has an ergonomic design to accommodate standing or sitting workers. Its stainless steel microtome is equipped with maintenance-free cross-roller bearings. The unit features motorized coarse feed and reset movement with three different speed settings. The cryostat operates via menu-driven prompts. The conveniently located LCD shows relevant data such as set and actual temperature. It also shows a graphical display, indication of section sum, remaining travel, number of sections and time, trim and fine section thicknesses, and retraction function. Unit provides an automatic cryo approach (ACA) system for exact and safe approach of the specimen towards the knife and/or blade. Temperature of the cryo chamber is controlled from -35 to 0°C (-31 to 32°F). The unit also features movable chamber illumination to avoid light reflection, and standby and sleep modes to reduce the energy consumption and operating noise. The battery-backed storage and self-diagnostic system help protect the unit. Unit has automatic defrosting with immediate defrosting and interruption function. Equipped with a fast freezing station for simultaneous freezing of 12 specimens when 30mm (1³/₁₆") stages are used. Numbered positions allow for better specimen allocation.

The model suffix indicates which added features are included: “P” for Peltier, “V” for vacutome, “O” for object cooling, and “M” for motorized sectioning. Peltier units have a separate -60°C (-76°F) cooling element for four specimens. Vacutome system flattens specimens and extracts sectioning debris. Object cooling is adjustable from -55 to 10°C (-67 to 50°F). Motorized sectioning units provide motorized specimen cutting movement from 0-250mm/sec. that can be controlled by foot pedal or control panel. They also feature an accelerated return stroke, programmable cutting window, brake, and emergency stop button.
