This CLIA-waived single-use rapid immunoassay is designed for the qualitative detection of HIV-1 antibodies in serum, plasma, and whole blood. It is a rapid HIV test that uses third generation technology and is able to detect HIV antibodies in patient samples 3-8 weeks earlier than other tests.

The test features a lateral-flow design similar to most pregnancy tests. It is easily performed because it requires only one drop of patient sample and four drops of wash buffer. Results are ready after 10 minutes of incubation time. The test provides sensitivity of 100% and specificity of 99.7%.

Intended for use in point-of-care settings as a diagnostic aid or with appropriate multi-test algorithms. External HIV controls should be run occasionally, and can be purchased separately: V1-VW-1206530.
