Each capillary tubing is machine cut and polished, deburred, ultrasonicated, passivated, washed, and flushed to provide tubing for zero dead volume connections. Use 0.010" I.D. tubing from sample injection valve to the column and from the column to the detector, keeping connections as short as possible. The small I.D. and short length minimize the mixing of the sample and broadening of peaks. Use 0.020" or 0.030" I.D. tubing for the transfer of the mobile phase from the pump to the sample injection valve. Tubing is color-coded for easy identification (except 0.040" I.D. size). Color bands are easily removed.
