These vials are designed for the preservation of biological specimens with liquid nitrogen. They can also be used as mailing tubes. External thread construction utilizes vial capacity more efficiently, and it protects lip from contamination and user’s hands from contents. Vials and caps are made of medical-grade polypropylene and are autoclavable. Vials are available sterile or nonsterile. Caps are sterile and manufactured with the same coefficient of expansion as the vials. Vials feature white marking area for sample identification (except 66008-863, which is supplied without marking area).
These vials and caps are designed to withstand temperatures between -196°C (-321°F) and 121°C (250°F), but the caps must be loosened or removed to allow pressure equalization upon cooling to prevent wall collapse.
Warning: Do not use cryogenic containers for storage directly into the liquid phase of liquid nitrogen; use in gas phase only. Always use appropriate safety equipment such as gloves, face shields, and safety cabinet or hood to protect personnel when removing items from storage in cryogenic gases.
