For chemical digestion processes, including C.O.D., total nitrogen, or total phosphorus. Thermoreactors maintain high reaction temperature over a defined period to ensure that digestion is carried out completely, and feature a display that indicates timer status when reaction temperature is reached. Safety features include a built-in safety hood to prevent chemical splashing in the event of cuvette breakage and heating block contact protection.

Commonly used temperature and digestion times are stored in five selectable digestion programs: 100°C (212°F) for 60 minutes; 120°C (248°F) for 30, 60, or 120 minutes; and 150°C (302°F) for 120 minutes. Models 80086-906 and -908 also allow storage of eight additional user-defined programs from 25 to 170°C (77 to 338°F) and are equipped with an external temperature sensor that can output data to either a printer or PC.

Model 80086-904 has a single, 12-cuvette thermoblock; models 80086-906 and -908 have two 12-cuvette thermoblocks; the two blocks may be individually controlled in model 80086-908. All units accommodate 16mm cuvettes.
