Immunoblots are on PVDF membranes and ready to be probed with polyclonal, monoclonal, or peptide antibodies. They are prepared by extracting total tissue or cell specfic proteins in a denaturing buffer containing a cocktail of protease inhibitors to minimize proteolytic damage to proteins.

Single tissue, single species immunoblots are extracted from a single tissue type. The single tissue, multiple species immunoblots contain tissue specific total protein extracted from human, mouse, and rat on one membrane.

Tissue-region specific, single species immunoblots are prepared by carefully dissecting and separating anatomically and functionally distinct regions of the tissue. The brain region sets include the frontal cortex, posterior cortex, cerebellum, hippocampus, olfactory bulb, striatum, thalamus, midbrain, entorhinnal cortex, pons, medulla, spinal cord, and total brain. The human brain-region total brain blot (82023-246) does not contain the entorhinnal cortex. Brain-region specific proteins are run alongside the total protein from a whole brain. The eye-region sets contain tissue proteins from the cornea, retina, aqueous humor, and total eye. The heart-region set from human tissue (82023-128) includes proteins from the right and left atrium and ventricle, as well as the aorta and vena cava. The heart-region set from pig tissue (82023-222) includes proteins from the right and left atrium and ventricle; mitral, pulmonary, aortic, and tricuspid valves; and the aorta. For both species, the heart-region specific proteins are run alongside the total proteins from a whole heart. The kidney-region sets contain proteins from the cortex and medulla regions run alongside the total protein from a whole kidney.

Multiple tissue, single species sets I contain tissue proteins from the brain, heart, liver, lungs, kidney, ovary, pancreas, spleen, and testes. Human set II (82023-204) contains tissue proteins from the breast, cervix, laryngopharynx, prostate, rectum, skin, stomach, thyroid, and uterus. Cell line sets are prepared using a family of human cell types. The normal endothelial cells sets (82023-232) include proteins from aortic (HAEC), coronary artery (HCAEC), dermal microvascular (HMVEC-d Ad), iliac artery (HIAEC), lung microvascular (HMVEC-L), pulmonary artery (HPAEC), and umbilical artery (HUAEC) and vein (HUVEC) endothelial cells. The normal epithelial cells set (82023-230) includes proteins from bronchial (NHBE), mamary (HMEC), prostate (PrEC), renal cortical (HRCE), and renal proximal tubule (RPTEC) endothelial cells. Normal human muscle cells set (82023-236) contain proteins from skeletal muscle cells (SKMC) and aortic (AoSMC), bronchial/tracheal (BSMC), coronary artery (CASMC), pulmonary artery (PASMC), umbilical artery (UASMC), and uterine (UtSMC) smooth muscle cells. Normal human skin cells set (82023-234) contains proteins from adult (NHEH-Ad), neo (NHEK-Neo), and neo pool (NHEK-Neo Pool) epidermal keratinocytes; adult (NHDF-Ad) and neo (NHDF-Neo) dermal fibroblasts; and adult (HMVECd-Ad) and neo (HMVECd-Neo) microvascular endothelial cells.
