This ionplus*electrode houses a reference electrode and a solid-state chloride sensing element in the same electrode body. Since the filling solution in the reference element contains neither calomel (mercurous chloride) nor mercury, the danger of mercurous contamination of food or mercury poisoning is eliminated.
