Workstations combine shortwave 254nm UV radiation with antimicrobial stainless steel construction to create a contamination-free PCR workspace. The acrylic enclosure is UV- and beta-blocking and effective for protection against 32P labeled compounds.
Workstations utilize high-intensity UV to reduce the chance of DNA contamination, creating an ideal environment for preparing PCR and other samples. The ultraviolet irradiation can be used as a standard laboratory practice to reduce surface and airborne contaminants in the chamber. This quick and efficient process can be enacted between experiments.
Antimicrobial-coated stainless steel surfaces are easy to clean and resist growth of destructive bacteria. Antimicrobial coating is stain- and fingerprint-resistant as well.
UV function operates with a key switch, and features a safety shut-off switch that automatically turns the ultraviolet light off when the door is open. This non-ventilated, circulation-free chamber further limits exposure of equipment to an open lab environment. The workstation is designed for placement of large instruments on the base work area, or tubes, flasks, and pipets on the two removable shelves. The bifold hinged door flips up for easy access to the work area. Four built-in power outlets allow operation of equipment for use in PCR applications.
UV2 models include a UV/air circulator that continually recirculates and decontaminates the air with shortwave UV to eliminate airborne microbes within the PCR hood during experiment processing. It is constructed with antimicrobial stainless steel and emits a high-intensity 25W shortwave UV light.
In addition to the UV/air circulator, UV3 models also include a UV HEPA filter. The filter system features a prefilter to capture large dust particles; an activated carbon filter to eliminate gases, odor, smoke, and ozone; a HEPA filter to block particles down to 0.3µm; and a zerozone catalyst grid to remove any remaining ozone.
The UV sterilizing cabinets are available for when a smaller footprint is necessary in limited lab space. Cabinets feature two built-in power outlets.
The optional UV/air circulator module (21474-710) may be added onto workstation 21474-708. It continually recirculates and decontaminates the air with shortwave UV to eliminate airborne microbes within the PCR hood during experiment processing. This easy-to-install, lightweight module is constructed with antimicrobial stainless steel and emits a high-intensity 25W shortwave UV.
Note: As ultraviolet tubes age, the intensity and germicidal destruction rate decreases. The lower the tube intensity, the longer the lamps must be on to accomplish the same objective. An ultraviolet meter can be used to measure the UV intensity in the chamber.
